A leading global hedge fund is looking for a Macro Portfolio Manager to join their London office.  This firm is known for its disciplined risk management, delivering superior returns and a culture of collaboration and innovation 

The ideal candidate will be adept at developing and executing macroeconomic trading strategies whilst the role requires a deep understanding of global markets and the ability to navigate complex economic environments. 

Role and Responsibilities:   

• Develop and implement global macro trading strategies that leverage economic, political, and market trends. Potential strategies may include but are not limited to, interest rate arbitrage, currency trading, commodity futures, and equity index futures. 

• Conduct comprehensive analysis of global economic indicators, geopolitical events, and market trends to identify investment opportunities and risks. 

• Actively manage and optimize a diversified portfolio of macroeconomic strategies, ensuring robust performance and stringent risk controls. 

• Continuously monitor and evaluate portfolio performance, adjusting strategies in response to market conditions and risk metrics. 

Skills and Qualifications: 

• Advanced degree (PhD, MSc, MBA) in Economics, Finance, Mathematics, or a related quantitative discipline. 

• Ideally circa 7 years of experience as a Global Macro Portfolio Manager or similar role within a hedge fund 

• Demonstrable track record of achieving a high Sharpe ratio (above 1.5) through successful macroeconomic trading strategies. 

• Proficiency in economic modeling, quantitative analysis, and the use of trading platforms. Familiarity with programming languages such as Python, R, or MATLAB is advantageous. 

Preferred Qualifications: 

• Experience with emerging markets and non-traditional asset classes. 

• Strong network of industry contacts and sources of macroeconomic intelligence. 

• Proven ability to work in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
