The Company
I am partnering with a highly regarded international specialist insurer to appoint an Underwriter into its Marine; Offshore & Renewables team in Dublin.
This is a fantastic opportunity to join a well-established and respected business operating in a complex, relationship-driven market. The role will suit someone with underwriting experience across marine, offshore, renewables, liability or other specialist commercial lines, who is keen to develop their career in a technically strong and globally connected environment.
You will work closely with underwriting, claims, risk and wider market stakeholders to support and grow a portfolio of offshore and renewables business, while helping deliver tailored solutions to clients and brokers operating in a dynamic and evolving sector.

You will work closely with underwriting, claims, risk and wider market stakeholders to support and grow a portfolio of offshore and renewables business, while helping deliver tailored solutions to clients and brokers operating in a dynamic and evolving sector.
The Role
Key responsibilities will include:
- Underwriting new and renewal business across marine, offshore and renewables-related accounts.
- Assessing submissions, reviewing risk information and determining appropriate terms in line with underwriting strategy and appetite.
- Supporting the development of long-term relationships with clients, brokers and key market contacts.
- Analysing underwriting, claims and loss trends to help inform portfolio decisions.
- Working closely with claims, risk / loss prevention and internal underwriting colleagues on complex risks and emerging exposures.
- Contributing to the ongoing development of the offshore and renewables portfolio, including identifying new business opportunities.
- Assisting with contract review and ensuring clarity of cover for complex or specialist risks
- Supporting the delivery of high service standards across underwriting administration, documentation and account handling.
- Sharing technical insight and best practice across the team.
The Person
We are open to a range of backgrounds, but the ideal candidate will bring experience from one or more of the following areas:
- Marine underwriting
- Offshore energy underwriting
- P&I underwriting
- Marine liability underwriting
- Renewables underwriting – especially Wind
- Marine or offshore broking
- In-house insurance / risk experience within shipping, marine or offshore sectors
You are likely to have:
- Experience underwriting or handling complex commercial insurance risks
- Good knowledge of the marine and/or offshore insurance market
- Strong technical and analytical skills, with the ability to assess risk and make sound underwriting decisions
- Experience building and managing relationships with brokers, clients or insureds
- A commercial mindset and an interest in supporting portfolio growth
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across teams
- A proactive, detail-focused and solutions-led approach
