The Job:
- Underwrite and manage a profitable portfolio of Trade Credit, Bond Surety, and Political Risk business across the EU.
- Work closely with MGA partners to assess risk, negotiate terms, and structure complex solutions.
- Support the continued growth and development of the underwriting strategy from the Dublin hub.
- Provide technical leadership, training, and support to junior underwriters and external partners.
- Monitor market trends, regulatory developments, and competitor activity to inform underwriting decisions.
- Collaborate with claims, risk, compliance, and actuarial functions to ensure underwriting discipline and alignment with appetite.
- Travel as required to meet with MGAs, brokers, and clients across the region.
The person:
- Extensive experience in underwriting Trade Credit and/or Surety business – political risk experience desirable.
- Demonstrable technical expertise in structuring and pricing complex risks.
- Strong network of contacts across MGAs, brokers, and risk carriers in the EU market.
- Proven ability to operate in a cross-border underwriting environment.
- Commercially astute with a growth mindset and entrepreneurial flair.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work autonomously while collaborating across a global team.
- Fluent English essential; additional European languages a plus.
