Grant Thornton is seeking an experienced insurance audit professional to join its growing Financial Services Audit team as an Audit Partner.
This is an outstanding opportunity for an established Director, Senior Director or existing Partner with deep insurance sector expertise who is ready to play a leading role in one of Ireland's most dynamic professional services firms.
The successful individual will become a key figure within the firm's insurance practice, working with a diverse portfolio of clients across life insurance, non-life insurance, reinsurance and captive insurance, while helping to shape the future growth of the business.
The Opportunity
You'll join a highly regarded Financial Services team with an established presence in the Irish insurance market and the backing of a global network.
This role offers the opportunity to:
• Lead and sign off audits for a portfolio of regulated insurance clients
• Act as a trusted adviser to boards, audit committees and senior executives
• Build and develop long-term client relationships across the insurance sector
• Support the continued growth of the insurance audit practice
• Develop and mentor high-performing audit teams
• Contribute to broader strategic initiatives across the Financial Services division
• Play an active role in business development and market engagement
Key Responsibilities
• Lead the delivery of complex statutory audits for insurance and reinsurance entities
• Sign audit opinions and assume overall responsibility for audit quality and regulatory compliance
• Oversee client relationships from planning through to completion
• Provide technical leadership across insurance accounting, reporting and regulatory developments
• Engage with senior stakeholders including Boards, Audit Committees, CROs, CFOs and Heads of Finance
• Support clients through evolving regulatory requirements and industry developments
• Identify and pursue opportunities for growth within existing and prospective client relationships
• Develop and coach audit managers, senior managers and directors within the practice
About You
We are interested in speaking with experienced insurance audit professionals who combine strong technical expertise with commercial awareness and leadership capability.
You will likely bring:
• ACA, ACCA or equivalent professional qualification
• Extensive insurance audit experience gained within a Big 4 or leading professional services environment
• Experience signing audit opinions or operating at a level immediately below signing authority
• Strong technical knowledge across life insurance, non-life insurance, reinsurance and/or captive insurance
• Deep understanding of insurance accounting and reporting frameworks including IFRS and Solvency II
• Experience working with regulated insurance entities and engaging with regulatory stakeholders
• Strong knowledge of the Irish insurance market and broader European insurance landscape
• Proven ability to build trusted client relationships and lead high-performing teams
• Commercial acumen and a genuine interest in contributing to practice growth
